Overwatch 2: Blizzard's hero shooter sequel officially announced

As anticipated by several leaks that had spread around the web before the event began, the stage of BlizzCon 2019 was the Irvine-based giant's chosen opportunity to unveil to the world the new chapter of Overwatch, which, contrary to rumors, will indeed be called Overwatch 2.

In spite of the name of the game itself, however, the new chapter of the hero shooter will not represent a clean break with the previous episode, since in the intentions of the software house there seems to be precisely the intention to ensure as smooth a transition as possible between the two clients, with much of the progress obtained by users in the first game being able to be maintained and transferred to the sequel when it is released. If you have accumulated "a thousand thousand" hours of gameplay on the first Overwatch and were afraid of losing all your invaluable skins, therefore, you can sleep easy dreams.

As far as the actual game is concerned, in addition to the ever-present PvP mode that will be expanded and extended (and which will still retain much of the maps and characters already present in the game), Overwatch 2 will place a greater emphasis on the PvE component of the experience, integrating within it much more narrative content than in the past. Again, then, it certainly appears that the leaks were accurate.

As for the game's release date, however, the information received at the moment is still unclear in this regard. However, as confirmed by Blizzard itself, the waiting time is still expected to be quite long and at least another 12 months will need to be put into account before we see the game officially launched on the shelves (digital or otherwise).

In the meantime, so that you can alleviate the "hype symptoms" that will have inevitably manifested should you be an assiduous player of the first chapter, we bring you below the official gameplay trailer released by Blizzard, which already allows you to have a juicy appetizer of what will await users with Overwatch 2. Enjoy!
